NEWSBRIEF: YEMEN – In the early hours of Friday April 3, the US carried out at least 36 airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, killing several and injuring others.
Continued Airstrikes in Yemen
The US has recently increased its airstrikes in Yemen, in an attempt to “deter Houthis from attacking Israel and disrupting the Red Sea route.”
Yemeni Houthis have been staunch supporters of the Palestinian cause, in what they consider as the “existential threat posed by Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people.”
From the Yemeni Ministry of Health and Environment, since March 15 to April 1, at least 250 people have been killed, with over 700 sustaining injuries by the American airstrikes in Yemen, and this figure continues to rise.
Houthi Vows Retaliation in Kind
Since the resumption of Yemeni strikes under the directive of US president Donald Trump, the Houthis has vowed their retaliation for “any act of aggression against the Yemeni people and supporting Gaza.”
While the United States claims its attacks in Yemen are aimed at “protecting American interests,” the Houthis says that the American Aggression against them are just because they support the Palestinian people.
Houthis Target American Aircraft Carrier, Truman
In response to the American airstrikes, the Houthi carried out a joint military operation targeting the American aircraft carrier Truman and its warships, using cruise missiles and UAVs and declared the operation a success.
They also announced to have downed an American spy drone and vowed to continue support for Gaza.
Their spokesperson General Yahya Sare’e reiterated their solidarity with Gaza and vowed to continue airstrikes and blockade on Israeli-linked targets until Israel stops its aggression on the Palestinian people.
The Continued Tensions in the Middle East
