NIGERIA – An IED blast in Nigerian Borno State killed at least 26 people on Monday at 11am after a vehicle drove over the Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which is suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram – local media reported.

The vehicle carrying the victims was headed for Gambarou Ngala from Rann, and the blast happened at Kala Balge area of Borno State.
From local sources, among the dead were 4 women, 6 children and over a dozen young boys.
3 women and several children were injured and rushed to Rann Hospital for medical care.
Over 20 died on impact from the blast, burning beyond recognition. While Boko Haram remains the main suspect, no one has claimed responsibility yet.
