NEWSBRIEF: TURKEY – A magnitude 6.2 earthquake in Istanbul’s Silivri district struck on Wednesday (today) at 09:49 GMT, shaking Istanbul and its neighboring provinces.

Its epicenter was in Istanbul, causing a widespread fear that led to residents free their buildings with fear.
According to Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 hit coast of Buyukcekmece in the Sea of Marmara at 10:02 GMT.
Response teams were dispatched to assess the affected areas and ensure public safety.
The Istanbul Governor’s office said that no damage has been reported yet, but assured that the relevant teams are undertaking field scanning.
Citizens were warned not to enter buildings which were damaged or showed signs of damage, avoid using cars unless necessary and also avoid using mobile networks unless for emergencies.
