Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is on an official visit to Russia to strengthen the relationship between the two nations, with the following being the key areas of focus during the talks:
- Situation in Middle East, including Syria and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
- Cooperation in the field of transport and other development projects between Russia and Qatar
Among the Russian delegation are Russian FM Sergei Lavrov, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, head of Russian Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.
Russia and Qatar Sign an Investment Agreement
After talks in the Kremlin, Russia and Qatar agreed to partner in a $2 Billion investment fund that’ll invest in:
- Technology
- Healthcare
- Minerals extraction, among others.
Other Agreements Signed During the Visit
Qatar and Russia not only signed an investment agreement, but also signed several others which include:
- Memorandum of understanding in sports and physical education
- Development of public finance management system between the finance ministries of the two nations
