Israeli Strike in Southern Lebanon Kills Hamas Commander and Family

NEWSBREAK: LEBANON – Hamas has confirmed the death of its commander Hassan Farhat, who’s also known as Abu Yasser, in an Israeli strike in Southern Lebanon city of Sidon. The airstrike also killed his children – his daughter Jinan and son Hamza.

IDF had previously stated it had killed the commander in an overnight strike and claimed to be the mastermind behind the attack that killed Sergeant Major Omar Sara Banjo last year, and left several soldiers injured.

Lebanon Condemns the Israeli Strike in Sidon

The Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has condemned the Israeli strike in Sidon, calling it a violation of the ceasefire reached in November.

Despite the ceasefire, Israel has been undertaking aerial strikes inside Lebanon and maintained its presence in some parts of Southern Lebanon.

The Continued Israeli Operation in Southern Lebanon

Since the drone strike in Sidon, Israeli forces have continued raids in several areas of Southern Lebanon in al-Naqoura, Nabatieh, Wadi Ezza and Saida.

These areas have witnessed damage from the airstrikes which precede the raids.

Hamas has vowed to continue its resistance, adding that assassinations won’t deter its cause.
